Taylor Mac: “A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, (Abridged)”

Thursday, September 19, 2019 - 7:30pm

MacArthur Fellow and Guggenheim Award-winning performer Taylor Mac chronicles an unseen history of America through a hand-picked selection of songs ranging from murder ballads to disco and everything in between. At its core, this immersive and outrageously entertaining performance reveals the resilience of communities. Decked and bedazzled in gloriously irreverent regalia and joined by an incomparable band and special guests from Portland’s local community, Mac sets the stage for a year-long celebration of Maine’s bicentennial with this night described as “startlingly unique…a must see for anyone who wants to see a kinder, gentler society.” (Huffington Post)
