Dicle is a clinical psychologist with a private practice in Gardiner, Maine. Dicle grew up in Istanbul, Turkey, and has lived in the US for the past 22 years. She first moved to Maine 11 years ago to complete her training, and now considers it home. Dicle has been involved with EQME for the past 6 years, three of which have been on the Board of Directors. She linked up with the organization initially because she swears we throw the best parties in Maine and has stayed involved to help grow and support the mission to secure full equality for all LGBTQ people living in Maine. Supporting the experiences of LBGTQ immigrants in Maine and providing service and connection for LGBTQ folks in rural Maine are the two issues that most excite Dicle. One of Dicle’s highlights with EQME was helping to organize a queer prom at her local high school to provide safer spaces (and parties!) for LGBTQ youth. Dicle is part of the strategic planning committee and is dedicated to helping EQME grow stronger and more inclusive by listening to the perspectives of the more marginalized within our community. When she is not fighting the patriarchy, Dicle also volunteers in animal rescue (looking to adopt, anyone?) and helps international students adjust to college life in Maine. Her major passions in life include her two amazing daughters, traveling with friends and family every chance she gets, and relaxing her hot tub. Dicle is also an expert (some say, the best) at finding travel deals, and after seeing half the world, Turkey remains her favorite travel destination. Dicle lives in Belfast with her family, and starts every day with her favorite thing: saying good morning to her dog, Ava.
