Development and Fundraising Internship

Fundraising is a major component of our operations as a non-profit organization. We rely on the support of our members and community businesses to fund our work. The intern will work closely with the Development Director to create and implement a wide array of fundraising initiatives and assist with the administration of fundraising operations. The intern will have the opportunity to work on projects involving corporate sponsors, monthly sustainers, annual appeals, major event sponsorships, advertising sales, on-line fundraising and more. 

Requirements: We are seeking enthusiastic interns who are passionate about our mission and possess the following attributes:

  • Interest in social justice and politics
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and computer-literate
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Experience working with youth and adults
  • Dependable and responsible
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge related to the internship(s) for which you are applying.

Time requirements: Schedules can be flexible, but interns should be available at least 8-10 hours per week in our Portland office, with some occasional evening and weekend hours. We strongly encourage interns to arrange course credit from their school if possible. Internships are not paid positions. All interns will be encouraged to create a portfolio project over the course of their internship.
