Communications and Social Media Internship

As a state-wide non-profit, political advocacy organization, communication with our membership and the general community is a critical component of our work. The intern will assist with the creation and implementation of our and/or media/public relations. Likely responsibilities will include social media updating and monitoring (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube), media monitoring, website updates, assisting with email and press release writing and more. 

Requirements: We are seeking enthusiastic interns who are passionate about our mission and possess the following attributes:

  • Interest in social justice and politics
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and computer-literate
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to work both as part of a team and independently
  • Experience working with youth and adults
  • Dependable and responsible
  • Demonstrated experience/knowledge related to the internship(s) for which you are applying.

Time requirements: Schedules can be flexible, but interns should be available at least 8-10 hours per week in our Portland office, with some occasional evening and weekend hours. We strongly encourage interns to arrange course credit from their school if possible. Internships are not paid positions. All interns will be encouraged to create a portfolio project over the course of their internship.
