New Leaders Project - Summer 2017

An Empowering and Fun Summer Program!

EqualityMaine’s New Leaders Project is a youth leadership camp. The program provides LGBTQ+ youth and allies the opportunity to learn about social justice, discover leadership skills and values, practice community organizing, investigate political action, and grow through self-empowerment.

The overnight camp is FREE and for high school age youth ONLY.  This summer’s session will take place from July 25 - July 28th on the campus of USM in Gorham.  The safe and supervised camp includes four days and three overnights, workshops on leadership, time for socializing, and all meals.

This is 8th edition of the New Leaders Project and EqualityMaine is known for creating safe spaces for people to learn and grow.  The outcomes and achievements of many NLP graduates are profound, like creating school clubs, advocating for improved curriculum, speaking opportunities, and organizing events, like this year’s incredible LGBTQ Youth Lobby day at the state house.
